The Cobb-Marietta Exhibit Hall Authority planned a $100+
million performing arts center in the Galleria area of Atlanta. Seeing
the positive impact of naming rights sponsorships in the sports world,
the Authority was interested in exploring the potential of such
sponsorships for the new performing arts venue.
SPI provided sponsorship valuation analysis, sponsor targeting,
sales preparation, and initial sponsor vetting services to the
Authority. The resulting naming rights sponsorship, totaling $20
million over 20 years, was the largest such sponsorship ever in the
performing arts at the time. The sponsorship contract was in place by
the groundbreaking and was able to be used by financial institutions
for a major portion of the venue financing.
